Engagment photos in saguaro national park

Richard and Betty asked me to do an engagement session down in Tucson at the stunning Saguaro National Park. I flew in early and scouted all the areas I wanted to shoot. Everything was going great until we started the engagement session. About 10 minutes in, I barely touched a cactus—and now my arm was stuck with one! Not knowing what it was, I just looked down in disbelief as about six of the barbs were wedged inside my arm. After wrestling with it alongside Richard, we quickly realized it wasn’t going to come out. Luckily, we were right by the Red Hills Visitor Center, and the park rangers were kind enough to remove the cactus. Later, I found out it was a jumping cholla, which is common in these parts. After that little incident, I looked twice before pointing with my hands. Anyway, this is there adventure engagement session in the very stunning Saguaro National Park.

Peter Mahar

I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus!
