McMenamins never fails—and it’s been over six years since we’ve gotten to photograph a wedding at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. Jeff & Arianna were the perfect, FUN, classic couple for the gorgeous indoor areas, and a lot of flash (and our new Home Depot constant light! Keep an eye out for it below) helped do the RAINY January day and their classiness justice. They got ready in the McMenamins Crystal hotel right across the street. Front & center below is Kristina, whose wedding we photographed at McMenamins Edgefield over three years ago (baby girl on the way now!). She recommended us to Arianna and Kalli, who also got married at a McMenamins! So this was Peter’s McMenamins bride triad—grabbed a photo of them all together at the reception.

We always love how a new venue or some rough weather adds extra creativity to shooting!

I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine.
