Bug Season

Yes October is definitely bug season! More mosquitoes and spiders the size of quarters. It was crazy for this photo shoot, everyone was getting bit, left and right. In the end everyone was troopers and stuck it out.

For this shoot I primarily used a diffuser and one external flash (SB900 with umbrella) to fill in the shadows of their face. Because it was in a shaded area the lighting was a lot softer, however it was still primarily coming from the top so a lot of unattractive shadows were cast down on both of them. So the flash really helped (with a reflector sometimes) to get rid of that unattractive shadow.

I will be "out of the office" for the next few days because Arthur, Hallie, Lily, and I are all going to Disney World! I am uber excited and will most likely be posting one or two pics.

Cheers,

Peter M.

I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
