Daniel & Olivia | Oregon CIty Wedding
Here's a story about a family with four sisters & one brother, who we've known our whole lives. 20 years ago, the first of four sisters got married. 15 years ago, another sister got married (to Susannah's brother), and we remember each other at the wedding: I was a bridesmaid and Peter was the (goals/hilarious) photographer. Ben & Rebekah's wedding was the first one he photographed when he moved back to Oregon from Florida. Flash forward to a year and a half later, getting to know each other, photographing weddings together "platonically", and then very non-platonically, getting married, working together full time. 12 years ago, we attended the third sister's wedding on our one year wedding anniversary! The brother got married 2 & half years ago and it was one of the first weddings we got to attend with our four boys. (January: with hot chocolate and marshmallows = iconic).
And, this summer, as a family, we got to photograph and attend the fourth (and last) sister's wedding. Tag teaming guys' and girls' getting-ready, rushing home to manage the bow-tie desires of a big crew, tagging camera in and out with our oldest son, and bringing our five boys and one baby girl (her first wedding!!)
Daniel & Olivia & co. planned a gorgeous and classy wedding, with loads of skilled and enthusiastic help. It wasn't anyone's first rodeo, and they pulled off such a joyful and present day. And the luxury napkins, 10 outta 10. Their ceremony was in Oregon City, at the gracious church who is hosting our church while our Christmas-Eve-fire building is getting renovated. Reception at the Canby Fairgrounds!
There's nothing like a community wedding to confirm all over again our obsession with weddings. Bride's family all getting ready in the parents' house, bridesmaid's babies getting passeled around and treasured and rocked to sleep, the requisite running-behind-on-hair-and-makeup, sister crew teaming up on teary finishing touches, heady walks down the street and kind hollers of "congratulations! you look beautiful!" from passersby, the excited drive to the party half of the day. Tidy aproned young ladies deftly handling dinner buffet, mounds of homemade rolls, and cake cutting, diligent young men washing dishes, nephew triad ripping UP the dance floor, and the quintessential Father of the Bride classy to the max with his daughters. Our dear sister-in-law bridesmaiding with her own baby girl soon to arrive, our sons getting to dance with their mama & even the bride. Industrious and gracious friends and family clearing plates and scraping cake into the trash, Weddings, man. There's nothing like them. It's the family business.
