Portland Wedding | David & Hannah
Susannah and I got to photograph David & Hannah’s wedding last weekend in downtown Portland, with some of the summer beauty of Portland on display.
It’s always so fun to hear the toasts at a wedding. Between holding a squat (the essential photographer move), it’s always an honor to get another little window into a couple’s story & and some of their closest relationships. These toasts were all-star, so well thought out and kind, so honoring of what makes both of them unique. (And even involved mother of the bride bestowing her childhood ruby red slippers on the groom—a first for sure).
At weddings, emotions and moments are happening a mile a minute, so “observe and report” is the move. As things start to slow down into the evening, it’s delightful to understand the couple more after the ceremony, vows, and toasts, so that we see what we’ve been capturing in a new light. Among things we loved at this wedding were the iconic mascot dog, the mid-champagne morning cheetohs, the beloved niece and nephew flower girl and ring-bearer duo, jumbo-size cupcakes, and a party that was somehow equal parts posh and rip-roaring.
