Patrick + Camille | Nashville, Tennessee Wedding

First thing after the new year launched, Peter, Luther (5), baby Zadok, and I (Susannah) jetted off to Nashville to photograph our first 2025 wedding. Patrick and Camille, about the sweetest and most-delighted-to-have-found-each-other couple, “knew” us through the internet plus mutual friends (shoutout Jenna and Taylor! <3). It was so special to be able to do another trip together, and we turned it into Luther’s five-year-old adventure, adding some time after the wedding weekend to spend time with TN family. Jenna, our favorite videographer, is married to Taylor, who was Patrick’s best man. We got to stay the weekend at their house, being warmed and filled with wonderful meals, top-notch coffee, and baby medicine. Jenna and I met at a wedding about fourteen years ago now in Pennsylvania (with many instant-bosom-friend-conversations including discussing the very teeniest early days of Peter’s and my relationship!). Our friendship has hurtled along ever since, usually with (many!) weddings as the high-points of getting to see each other again. (See: her sister Joy’s glorious Lancaster, Pennsylvania wedding).

Camille and Patrick were beautifully bouyed up with their just peace and joy in getting to marry each other. In the moment, enjoying each other, and very gracious with our snafus, including a full-contact baby Z in the carrier throughout for me (traveling was not his rager post-Christmas cold’s fave). And Lily, Peter’s niece, got to third-shoot, and was the (only) classy one in our team!

As usual, Nashville was a stunning setting for it all. Ceremony at the beautiful Vine Street Christian Church, maybe the most naturally-well-lit church we’ve gotten to photograph. And ceremony at stylish Donelson Social Hall. We loved how much of a classy & fun wedding they threw for such a crowd (300ish guest count!). A true rallied-big-community wedding—great food, a friend-made surprise cake for Patrick, a delighted-kid-filled dance party. Luther really came into his own with the dancing and the CAKE. (See below for the slightly deranged proof).

Peter Mahar
I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
