Pat + Christine | Renaissance Wedding Part 1

Come enter into another world to this wild & wonderful wedding weekend. The bride and groom threw a magical multi-day celebration with friends and family at the very whimsical Trout Creek Wilderness Lodge in Molalla. If you don’t know about it, you should check it out, it’s an Oregon hidden gem. The owners are a delight and have had the property for five generations. The love and care show on the property. It’s a spread-out wilderness paradise, complete with a lodge for cooking and gathering, swimming holes, bath houses, saunas, all kinds of tents and cabins sprawled out all over the place. A perfect match for their whole weekend.

It was a magical setting with many nature paths, camping tents galore, and an amazing river with a swimming hole to cool off in.

Someone forgot to bring a spoon, so naturally, he’s making one from scratch from a piece of wood!

The bride pins a merit badge on one of the guests. She had lots of activity challenges available for guests to enter into. Like doing a 10-second handstand, basket-making, archery, fire-building, treasure hunts, crafts, and so much more.

On Friday evening all the guests gathered, and many people had prepared performances, some skits, and some musical numbers to perform for everyone else.

As a 6-year-old, the groom had written an epic story—the bride surprised him by putting on a play of the entire tale with some friends.

Then, Pat surprised Christine by a table reading of the Part 2 that he had written after spying a script on the printer a few months before the wedding!

Day 2 coming soon!

Peter Mahar
I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
