Joe and Tamsyn got married at the Oaks Pioneer Church in Portland. A stunning end-of-October day to finish out our wedding season! Ben and I photographed these guys while Susannah was home with our boys, but I had all the nostalgic memories from the very first wedding she and I photographed together at this same tiny chapel, way back in 2012.

I’ve known Joe ever since he moved to Oregon years ago from New York and he showed up at our church. He was a groomsman in our friends Colin and Sara’s wedding, and his fantastic group of guys included Colin and several other friends, including our backdoor-neighbor (HEY CHRIS!)

It’s always the biggest and scariest honor to get to photograph friends’ weddings! Loved getting to see how HAPPY these two make each other.

I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
