Favorite Wedding Moments of 2014

2014 was our first year shooting full time weddings together, and what a crazy ride it's been! We've gotten to be a part of so many unique, creative, colorful, hit-you-right-in-the-feelings kind of days, and we're still reeling with thankfulness for this job we're honored to have.

Our favorite thing, hands down, about weddings is all of the poignant, blissful, hilarious, happy-crying, even disastrous moments that unfold throughout the day. Nothing that we can control, pose, or stage--just down-to-earth, straight-up emotion that we are lucky enough to get to witness and try to capture.

And now: some of our favorite wedding moments of this jam-packed year.

When a girl becomes a bride. Nothing quite like it.

Every time a bride & groom see each other for the first time, fancied-up and antsy to get married. (Groom tears = photographer's GOLD).

And... brother first looks and mama first looks.

The jokes, glitches, and powerful solemnity of the ceremony (also, occasionally, doves). Most likely to bring me (Susannah) to extremely inappropriate tears.

The first moments of being actually MARRIED!

All the love and craziness and happiness between the bride & groom that reveals their personalities and unique style of relationship. (Sometimes more terrifying than others--see below).

(This is called: "kissing the crap out of his cheek").

We're over the moon when a bride & groom are willing to brave the elements on their day--rain, hot sun, abrupt and brutal windstorm, or the freezing-cold snow. Capturing what the day was really like is our favorite, and it's pretty amazing to see a bride roll with whatever the weather surprises everyone with.

(Even when it's a drench-everyone-in-five-seconds thundershower at the exact moment the outdoor ceremony was supposed to start).

Hilarious, real-life families and bridal parties.

The first dance--everyone's is so different, and we love to get to hear their song choices. (#2 point that makes me weep).

Father-daughter dances. The end.

And last, but not least, all of the eating & drinking, hilarity, and breaking-it-down-on-the-dance-floor, that ensues at the reception!

Thank you to all of our incredibly gracious, stunning, and delightful brides & grooms of 2014! You made us cry, laugh, and swoon this year, and we're so grateful to have been able to capture the first chapter of your new story together.
