Andrew + Julia | Hillsboro, Oregon Wedding by Susannah

Such a special honor to photograph a dear friend’s son’s wedding at: my brother Daniel’s wife’s parents’ home. Daniel and Katelyn were married here over 14 years ago, and it was so nostalgic coming back to such a special place from my teenage years, where he wooed her and her younger sister and I tittered, watched great movies, and I was introduced to Nutella for the first time. The most official “unofficial” venue—there is a long list of friends, family, and acquaintances who have gotten married at this gorgeous property in the middle of farmland in Hillsboro.

I’m that obnoxious person who “remembers when he was just a little boy!”—when we first met Andrew’s family, he was the age of our boys now, and an absolute delight. It was trippy but just so special to get to see him and his SEVEN brothers and one beautiful sister (two of whose births I got to witness & photograph in my teeniest earliest years of photography!). Their parents, Dave and Melinda, dear long-time friends, have now launched their third son into marriage within approximately four months. And still looking calm and gorgeous. This equally encourages and terrifies Peter and I as we look at our crew of four boys!

Andrew and Julia were outrageously sweet together. So much delighting in each other and being so present, enjoying their party and all their people. I’m so thankful to gotten to witness yet again, the sacred joy of a couple making promises to each other before God & the kind of true friends and family who will stand by them as they live them out.

My dear friend Anna (who is now Andrew’s sister-in-law) made their cake, Andrew’s dad officiated, my sister-in-law Katelyn coordinated (including wedding dress berry-stain-removal!) their friends and family did the food, Louis was my unparalleled second-shooter and Shake-Shack-bringer. <3
