Hard to believe, but this is a backyard wedding! Greg’s uncle hosted their beautiful reception, complete with a view overlooking the Portland skyline and movies and spontaneous chicken nuggets for the crew of children. Such a relaxed day to photograph. Loved that both her parents were around while she got hair and makeup done at the Heathman Hotel downtown. Beautiful ceremony held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and then photographed bride & groom portraits at Washington Park (the rose garden) nearby. We love when couples trim things down to what matters most—in this case, getting married, family, and incredible food!

I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
