Tyson + Natalie | Moon Gully Wedding photos

The first wedding at this brand new venue, Moon Gully. It just so happens to be the bride’s father’s property! They’ve been spending the last eight months getting it all ready and prepared. Like most grand openings, the finishing touches were up until the last minute. I had the privilege of being able to document all day which I love because I get to know everybody, get a feel for family dynamics, and I get to capture much more because of it. Below you’ll get to see the parking lot getting built and measured out by Jason (father-of-the-bride) and his son. The property also has pigs and goats and chickens. So naturally, they cooked up one whole pig for the wedding with this amazing barbecue company.

It was a glorious family affair. Everyone was coming together to make this party happen, and it was so much fun everyone getting ready together. (In RV’s!) As the evening went on, there were also a few preplanned and rehearsed performances by the bride’s sister and the bride’s father, which always make for a good time.

I think the ideal wedding timeline is getting ready with friends and family, and then ceremony, short formal photos, and then going into a cocktail hour or appetizers and drinks are served. A great venue with lawn games and other activities for kids of all ages. Moving into dinner and then toasts, then maybe special performances prepared beforehand by guest or friends or family—such an entertaining touch for the guests & couple.

Peter Mahar
I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
