Shelly and Owen met while still in a high school arts program at a university in North Carolina, studying oboe and saxophone, respectively (they win the award for being the first couple we’ve ever had who met while studying wind instruments for sure). They had a truly gorgeous wedding this August at Coopers Hall Winery and Taproom in Portland, Oregon. My first time at this venue, and it blew me away! Coopers Hall is such a magical place to photograph and have a wedding! Amazing window light which is always a photographer’s dream, tons of hanging plants, stunning ferns and fiddle fig leaf, not to mention the gorgeous wine barrels. For receptions, all the action is happing in one location which made for a very fun environment for guests to hang out. Such a classy, totally-Portland wedding that was a delight to photograph!

I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
