Jason & Amy | Latourell Falls Engagement Photos

When people think of waterfalls in Oregon, they often think of Multnomah Falls, which is why it’s so mobbed with people and difficult to have a fun and relaxed photo session. This is one of the many reasons I love shooting adventure engagement sessions at Latourell Falls. It’s a ridiculously short walk down to the falls, and most people that go head down to see it and then head back pretty quickly, so you often don’t have to wait much time.

If you’re going to just do photos there just briefly, it’s important to go more in the afternoon to get more light on the couple, however you will miss out on amazing sunset light in the surrounding area. For example, with this session, we started two hours before sunset and spent the first hour at the falls and I brought an external light so we could take advantage of the stunning sunset light at the end. It’s an added bonus that less people go to the falls closer to sunset time as well! If you are interested in an adventure session like this, you can check out our pricing here.

Peter Mahar
I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
