Such a fun, intimate newborn photo session in the home. It was awesome that it was all decorated for Christmas. I just got the new Nikon Z5 with the 35mm 1.8 S lens, so I was very excited to put it to the test. I want to be doing gear reviews in the coming months. But for now. the Z5 is amazing for the price. Fantastic in low light and does a really good job separating colors and not letting them all blend together. It's already amazing how much better and faster it is at focusing than the D750 and even the D850 in some situations.

I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine.
