Frank + Emily | Columbia Gorge Engagement Session

columbia river gorge engagement photos53.JPG

If you live in the Pacific Northwest, it’s so easy to take the beauty of the hills and mountains for granted. For part of my childhood I grew up in the gorge, and every day that I’d leave my house I drove by the Cape Horn Lookout. It’s truly breathtaking. If it weren’t for the crazy traffic that flies by there, it would be a perfect spot for engagement photos. But driving by that every day, I’d get numb to it and forget how truly beautiful it was. Now that I live in Gladstone, I don't get out there much unless it's for work. Every time we schedule an adventure engagement session in the gorge, I’m so excited because of how stunning it is! And every time I think to myself, I need to get out more!

I’ve shot at this location many times now because of how much different stuff it’s got going on. It feels like you’re right in the center of the gorge, with the Washington and Oregon hill ranges cascading on either side of you.

Peter Mahar
I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
