Ankit + Lucy | Vietnamese Tea Ceremony Photos

I love many things about a Vietnamese tea ceremony—the amazing colors, food, and clothing, but the thing that’s the most amazing is the honor and love they show their parents and ancestors. The bride and groom pour tea for their family members and let them know how they love them and respect them, and then the families present gifts and offer words of encouragement and love in return. It can be very emotional, and a beautiful thing to be able to document and share. I wish we did more things like this on a yearly basis for our communities and the people who raised us!

The tea ceremony took place at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club.

Peter Mahar
I'm Peter Mahar, a professional wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I grew up the youngest in crazy family of six--which was great, because I got to make my brothers and sisters laugh, and not-so-great, because I had to sit in the back of the van on the seat with the stupid bump in the cushion. I make pizza and talk a lot. I'm part Italian, so I use a lot of gestures (especially during photo shoots). I love deep conversations, a good fire, and a glass of wine. But most of all, I love Jesus, because He's great and I'm not.
