Aiden + Hannah | Santa Cruz, California Wedding

So many exciting things to note about this wedding!

  • Aiden and Hannah met in middle school and their families have been friends ever since. They’ve been best friends ever since, stayed in touch long distance through their families cross-country moves, and finally got married & will live in the same place again!

  • Not a dry eye—everyone was so excited for this wedding because I think so many people have been waiting so long for this day to come!

  • All four sets of grandparents are still married and all made it to the wedding—this is SO RARE! I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed this. I had to take the opportunity and photograph each one to commemorate the occasion.

  • My 5-year-old son Obie got to come with Louis and I on an epic road trip and help with the wedding. To say he enjoyed it is an understatement. A big milestone for me to get to take one of my boys on such a destination wedding!

  • Aiden is the oldest son of one of our pastors, a dear friend whose whole family has been such an inspiration to Susannah and I as we raise our boys.

A few words from Aiden and Hannah:

How did you guys meet and why did you decide to get married? : We met at Beacon Hill Classical Academy in Camarillo, CA in middle school! More specifically, we met at a pumpkin patch and McDonald's when our two families got together. We were best friends and liked each other throughout middle school and high school, spending lots of time together as families and at Six Flags with friends. In the beginning, we bonded over Latin, frisbee, and piano. Despite several cross-country moves between our two families, we kept in touch and started dating in the summer of 2020. Ten years after we met, Aiden asked me to marry him on May 6, 2023 in Yosemite National Park, a place where we had camped and backpacked together with our families in middle school and high school.

What were three things you learned in the wedding planning process you wish you knew before?:

1. Don't be afraid to ask for help!
2. Nothing is worth getting worried and frustrated about; we are just thrilled to be getting married and to celebrate with all our loved ones
3. Write everything down from the very beginning.

What are three things you chose to do that you still think were a very good idea? : Ask us again after the wedding:), but we are looking forward to:
1. Charcuterie boards at the reception!
2. Having our own table at the reception.
3. Aiden composed all the music for the ceremony.
