Andrew + Ashley | The Ruskin Cave, Tennessee Wedding

We’ve known Andy for our whole lives, and my earliest memories are of him chasing and cajoling our farm cats. 20+ years later, and he’s a full-on veterinarian (how many people do you know who actually become their childhood dream??) who's been moving around for his school and work on the other side of the US. He met Ashley at acro-yoga, and they are a ludicrously one-in-a-million couple. All of Andy’s tricks (he once won at the state fair with his brothers) they can do together, and it’s pretty much Greatest Showman dream come true stuff going on.

Ashley is as sweet as Andy is goofy, and they even get to wear matching cat sweatshirts. Way back at Catie and Andre’s wedding, I vividly remember Andy’s helpless/lovesick/so-excited-he-couldn’t-cope description of Ashley to me and how much he wanted to marry her. (“SHE LOVES CATS and JESUS!”) These two have worked their socks off and waited patiently to find their truly made-for-them best friend.

Peter got to take their engagement photos at Multnomah Falls a few months ago, and we were so giddy to get to even attend, let alone photograph their wedding together in Tennessee! Some of our favorite people live nearby in Nashville and Franklin, and we got to stay (and EAT) with our friends Jenna & Taylor for the wedding weekend. We brought a very chill 2-month-old Almanzo and we loved that it felt like old times when we traveled regularly with our tiny baby Samson! We got to power-team it up with Jenna, our favorite vibey videographer, and her sister Joy came to help with Almanzo on-location. Joy used to live out here in Oregon and would stay with Samson on the weekends while we photographed weddings all summer! Check out Jenna’s wedding video here.

This venue blew our minds—not only were we getting to photograph another wedding in Tennessee, one of our favorite places, but the The Ruskin, an amazing cave wedding venue in Dickson, was just stunning. About a hundred beautiful different spots to photograph—the cave, a waterfall, even a huge, old, empty building. Again, perfect for Andy & Ashley, who are hardcore waterfall-type adventurers.

I think every guest at the wedding could have given a speech testifying to the kindness and diligence of Andy and Ashley. Can’t wait to see how far they go and how thoroughly they bless each other and those around them as a team!
