Justin + Kelli | Rosehill Community Center Wedding Photos

The first weekend of 2024 started off with a bang with photographing a destination wedding up near Seattle! From-a-wedding-referrals are our favorite—Kelli booked us because we got to photograph her brother Camden’s wedding over a year ago, a delightful moody fall day in the Seattle area. Louis and I went up north this time for such a different kind of wedding, but with many familiar faces! It always surprises us how well we know faces from weddings we’ve photographed, culled, and edited. Camden and Kelli’s family is such a special one, and it was such an honor to meet Justin’s family and get to capture their day. A winter wedding is always a fun change with indoor venues, and the Rosehill Community Center was the perfect January wedding venue. Right by the water, and tons of fun to use off camera lights & flash to light things up. Also, shout-out to these two for choosing a Friday wedding!

From Justin & Kelli:

How did you guys meet and why did you decide to get married? : We met at college on the first day. We decided to get married because we saw the person we wanted to build a life with in each other. We found that we encouraged each other to pursue God in each other and we believed that we could do that better together than apart.

Why did you choose your venue? : We chose our venue because it was affordable, had the amenities we needed, and was gorgeous.

What were three things you learned in the wedding planning process you wish you knew before?:

1. Start your guest list the day after you get engaged; it will take the longest.
2. Communicate with family
3. Rsvps will take longer than you think, but they will come in, don't stress!

What are three things you chose to do that you still were great ideas? :

1. 10 year rule--what will matter in 10 years? Spend your budget on the things you will remember in 10 years, the relationships you will have in 10 years, and the things that will last in 10 years.
2. Organization is key, you can never over-organize.
3. Book your major vendors first and then work with the budget from there.

Sid + Palak | Zenith Vineyard Indian Wedding Ceremony

What an amazing day! I love photographing Indian weddings because they are full of so many unique moments. There is so much going on in sometimes a very short amount of time, so you have to be ON to make sure to capture every fleeting moment. Before the actual ceremony, the groom and most of the guests do a Baraat (a huge parade/dance party) before the ceremony for close to an hour! After getting pumped up, they head down to the ceremony site and have to negotiate an amount to get a pair of scissors to get into the ceremony site. Then so many magical things happen during the ceremony. To date, I have not shot a wedding where the guests dance harder and for longer than at Indian weddings.
